Andre is an incredible fighter….
– The wound continues to be an issue. However, it appears to be healing very slowly. This places a lot of strain on his body.
– He now has a cap on his trach (placed on Tuesday)… This encourages him to breathe through his nose and/or mouth. This is a very positive step.
His oxygen levels are now being constantly monitored during this transition. The goal is to work on removing the trach.
– Consciousness is measure on a spectrum. We hope that Andre makes giant strides towards more consciousness.
– Andre is demonstrating small signs of awareness. His son, Antwone, came to Texas to visit him and accompanied him to one of the sessions. The therapist asked Andre a series of questions and asked him to respond using movements with head.
Therapist: Do you have multiple children?
Andre: No (with his head)
Therapist: Do you have a son?
Andre: Yes (with his head)
Therapist: Is his name Anthony?
Andre: No
Therapist: Is his name Antwone?
Andre: Yes
All answers were correct.
