A man found himself in court last week after committing a crime stemming from an unpaid debt.
Walton Joseph, seeking payment for a gas cylinder he had sold, damaged a person’s doorknob and hinge in an attempt to break in.
On July 1, he repeatedly knocked on the tenant’s door at an apartment complex in town, but when met with no response, he resorted to using a pipe wrench.
The defendant was subsequently charged with malicious damage, and in an ironic twist, he now owes the person he claimed owed him.
Joseph was ordered to compensate the complainant for the damages caused.
