  1. Happy said Newspaper was mentioned! Unbelievable!

Why carry back and print what they did not agree to? Thanks for standing your ground for the teachers and students interest. Point FM/ Minister of Education n other Government officials who wish to pass the dumb law, will NOT be in the classrooms!

    • Which latest report? The WHO recommends 3 feet:
“Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and others. Why? When someone coughs, sneezes, or speaks they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplet” see Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) advice for the public, WHO , 4 June 2020.

      • WHO does not always get it right. A recommendation does not mean that the proposed is based on sound scientific research and even pragmatism. We have not had COVID before. Therefore, even the WHO is trying to get it right and changing regimens as we go along. BUT, it should not be at the expense of our children’s health and safety. Three feet can be easily accepted in open space and when persons are mobile but certainly not recommended in my opinion for confined spaces where people are stagnant. It is worrisome!

  2. The reopening of school for face to face learning is going to be a mess it’s going to get out of control the children are not even sitting in the classroom yet and there’s confusion already, this is no time for trial and error people’s lives are at stake.

  3. Listen, I fully concur with @worrisome. Who decides that the social distancing should be 6ft and then change it to 3ft all because they want to fit enough students into a classroom? Minister Nicholas had said in one of his briefings that covid is a serious virus and that 6ft is the ideal social distancing (paraphrasing) so how come all of a sudden it is 3ft. What happe, don’t they value the lives of teachers and students? What is it what? This needs the input of the whole nation; business places, lawyers, parents, teachers, nurses etc… not just the A&BUT…we as a nation need to stand up with this union.

  4. Parents do still have the option of keeping their children at home and educating them themselves if they are dissatisfied with what is being offered. As one parent publicly opined through this medium, parents opting for home schooling would make much needed space available for students and their parents who are intersted in and desirous of resuming the traditional methods of delivery in Antigua.
For that person suggesting a distance of at least ten feet, please! Just remain under your moss covered rock and watch the world go by.

    • That isn’t exactly true. For September 7 it would be too short notice to apply for homeschooling. Applications needs to be in 3 months before and requires a 3 year lesson plan along with the parents or tutor’s qualifications. Parents can be denied. Technically we are forced out send our children back or break the law.
I believe they noticed many students will not be accommodated with the former rules. I alook noticed certain supermarkets were already observing the 3feet rule long before the change. So I am of the believe it’s a matter of convenience and full functionality.

  5. 3 to 6 feet if mask is worn. 6 ft if there is no mask that is World Health Organisation latest recommendations.
