During a United Nations Day flag-raising ceremony, Didier Trebucq, the UN’s Resident Coordinator in Barbados, praised Antigua and Barbuda for its steadfast commitment to multilateralism in addressing global challenges.

He highlighted the enduring partnership between the nation and the UN, with a focus on supporting national priorities aligned with the 2030 agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.

Trebucq emphasized resilience-building to combat inequality and address vulnerabilities facing Caribbean Small Island Developing States.

He commended Antigua and Barbuda for their efforts in climate adaptation, social protection, and digitalization.

The UN is aiding in developing a Digital Transformation Framework, a significant tool in achieving the SDGs.

Additional UN resources will support youth and digitalization initiatives, and Antigua and Barbuda will be among the first to benefit from the UN’s “Early Warning Systems for All” initiative.
