Ukraine appoints Yelchenko ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda and Jamaica

On July 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a new appointment for Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States Volodymyr Yelchenko.

The decree on the appointment, No.288/2020, has been posted on the president’s website.

“To appoint Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States of America Volodymyr Yelchenko as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Antigua and Barbuda and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Jamaica concurrently,” the decree says.

Since December 2019, Yelchenko has headed the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States.

From 2010 to 2015, the diplomat headed the embassy in Russia. From 2015 to 2019 he served as the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN. In 2016 and 2017, Yelchenko represented Ukraine at the UN Security Council.
