The robbery occurred around 9:10 a.m. on April 28 and was promptly reported to the Gray’s Farm police station.

Allegedly, the robbers approached the couple, held them at gunpoint, and stole a black Apple iPhone 15 Pro valued at $1,000.

The victims, hailing from San Diego, California, were on vacation in Antigua and had decided to take a walk on the beach from their hotel.

While strolling, they were accosted by a man emerging from a bushy area, brandishing a silver firearm and speaking with an Antiguan accent.

He demanded that they empty their pockets. Shortly after, a second man, not armed, appeared and searched the victims, taking the man’s phone.CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATS APP GROUP

  1. So this is all the sense you have ???
Tourism is Antigua main industry, and you choose to take food out of your own mouth. I rest my case!

  2. More police personnel needed all over. Stop harassing the visitors and go and look work. Do farming do something with your life

    • They need to get education and jobs but sadly those in authority who have access to state resources are even doing the jobs the regular man should be doing and only employing certain people

  3. This isn’t surprising at all.
Residents aren’t safe in their own homes muchless for visitors on the beach.
Women are now forced to ensure they have a male companion or they fall victims to break ins, robberies and sexual assault within their homes.
Patroling police officers left together with the covid lock down. Only in plain sight during the day to handout traffic tickets.

I fear for my safety and that of the females who live alone. What has Antigua materialized into?

    • When i first moved here my partner was robbed by men who we met at the beach doing jet ski rentals…knew their names, description, so on, yet the police dragged their feet nothing was ever done.

  4. The Robbers spoke with an Antiguan accent. The tourists said this coming from the USA, do they know Antiguan accent? Please stop writing crap. These robbers don’t care if they kill the Tourisim industry and sink antigua. It is a pity they didn’t hang on to phone so police could track them.

  5. Very sad for this to be happening in our country. This can be solved easily. All iPhone can be tracked or lock down
The person who commented about speaking like Antiguan, you think Antiguan voice cannot be detected ? Think again.
The one who mentioned about government, what you want ? You need blood out of the government. Why don’t you start something and employ someone. Invest in your country. You all expect government to do everything.
Is ambition those guys don’t have. Trying to ruin the tourism industry. It’s time all Antiguan citizens get up and try to preserve there own country.
Call the thieves by their name, stop keep silence. Don’t care who, rub them out.
Antiguan is a blessed country. Antiguan don’t know that and even if they are aware, some don’t care, it’s just the truth.
Foreigners who come to Antigua appreciate the country more than who born there.NB, is not only Antiguan but it’s a trend going on all over the world.
NB, Lets all appreciate our country and be a whistleblower to protect our country.
Love you all. May God continue to bless our beautiful country.

  6. I want to first say sorry for this traumatic experience the US citizens suffered as victim of these qualifying crimes while visiting Antigua.

They must be informed that they immediately qualify for US crime victim benefits that includes financial/funds assistance, counseling paid for, housing if staying longer to cooperate with local law enforcement, their plane ticket to return to the US and more could be approved for them.

My services would have already physically existed in Antigua and Barbuda for my Crime Victim Advocacy and Research endeavor but I was not provided the appropriate tools required to obstruct and intercept harms that victims like US tourist in Antigua and Barbuda would suffer as victims abroad, in Antigua.

Please do know, those victims can contact me and I would have been the one the Antigua and Barbuda government contact when such crimes affect such kind of US visitor victims in the Caribbean Island.

I am so sorry for what happened to these invited guess (legal obligation to make the place safe for them under the law of tort), but my endeavor that was/is to protect visitors to Antigua and Barbuda was determined to be not of national importance to the current administration based on statements like, I cannot help you, do you see why the PM cannot interference, and complete ignoring my constant email, text and calls.

All I wanted was my application for the appropriate tools required to be decided on the merit and expedited. In a matter as described in the article, I would separately and in conjunction with the police perform my own investigation into this, gather evidence that the crime occurred and prove by a preponderance of evidence also that the victims are suffering covered harms that they can recover damages for. This legal requirement to avoid malpractice would or could put me in harms ways. It would be prudent for me to ensure I have the required tools before I begin such nationally important and dangerous endeavor.

I hope one day this current political party and others take endeavors like mine seriously or a new one cones that will.

  7. I’m getting rather sick and tired of the inactions on crime by this terrible government.

I am blessed to be a regular traveller to Caribbean and European countries, and I see regular police presence on the beaches and the tourism areas out there.

For example, you will witness Barbadian police regularly patrolling their beaches – a reassuring sight!

And it is not just in the tourism areas, you’ll also witness the police walking the beat in rural areas and night-time patrols as well.

I’VE SAID IT BEFORE, AND I’LL SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS AGAIN …

Our police commissioner Attlee Rodney , the Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin, and last and not least the Prime Minister Gaston Browne have taken their eyes off the ball when it comes to rising crime in Antigua & Barbuda; and if they continue with this WILFUL and BLATANT ignorance of this problem, then matters will significantly get worse.

Even in current and past comments, some regular travellers to this idyllic island are saying that they won’t return until something is done to stem the rising crime rates.

POOR WE IN ANTIGUA & BARBUDA 🇦🇬, BEING LED BY A BUNCH OF DONKEYS AND JACKAR%#S …

  8. What’s ironic is that these 2 tourists are from my hometown in San Diego, California. I happen to know the firm where the male works, so I will have to do some damage control so a image of Antigua is not ingrained. I’m a Healthcare Economist and I’ve done work as an independent contractor at his form. I have a very good reputation so I’ll do my best to let everyone know this is an isolated incident and in no way mirrors the island of Antigua.
