Two men to be sentenced for rape

Even as rape convictions are being handed down in court, the Police are probing similar allegations that involve teenagers.

On Monday, March 6, Amonikhe Brann appeared in the High Court of Justice facing two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16 years.

Brann appeared before Justice Collin Williams and pleaded guilty to the offences, which reportedly occurred between November 30 and December 26, 2021, at Nut Grove.

He is expected to be sentenced on Wednesday, March 8.

Meanwhile, Al Sylvester Hillaire, who was indicted for rape, recently appeared before Justice Williams and was found guilty of the offence, which reportedly occurred on February 16, 2019, at Freemans Village.

He was granted bail until his sentencing on April 4.

Another man was more fortunate than Brann and Hillaire and had his rape charges dropped.

On Monday, March 6, he, too, appeared before Justice Williams in the High Court, where the prosecution entered a nolle prosequi – or withdrawal of the charges against him.

While the man had been indicted on a charge of rape, the victim reportedly does not wish for any further action; and so the matter was withdrawn.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating three incidents of rape involving three teenagers.

In one matter, a mother visited the Parham Police Station at 11 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, and reported that her 14-year-old daughter and her 15-year-old niece had been raped, over time, by a known male.

Both teens have already given the police certain information related to the alleged offence.

In another incident, a 15-year-old female went to the Special Victims Unit (SVU) and alleged that, on March 1, she had been raped by a known male at his home in the countryside.

The teenager reportedly has been examined by a medical doctor.-REAL NEWS
