Two active COVID cases on Barbuda

1

The Barbuda Council ‘s CoVid-19 Taskforce continues its efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus in Barbuda.

This past week the results of nine PCR tests were returned. Two of these were repeat tests from previously confirmed positive individuals and the other five were newly tested individuals.

Of these five, there was one testing positive for CoVid-19. This means that we presently have two confirmed active cases of CoVid-19 and three recovered cases.

The stock of Sofia Rapid Testing kits that were used over the past weeks have been exhausted so there is a temporary halt to using this method of testing.

However 50 SD Biosensor rapid Antigen testing kits were received from Mount Saint John Medical Centre and these will be used over the upcoming week.

As we continue the fight to control this virus, front line workers and vulnerable individuals took the opportunity to get vaccinated this past week when the first batch of vaccines were received.

We therefore take this opportunity to encourage the members of our community to take personal responsibility for their health and well-being and to do all that is possible and necessary to stop this virus from spreading.

Continue to be vigilant and protect ourselves by adhering to all the CoVid-19 pandemic protocols that have recently been upgraded and those measures initiated by the Barbuda Council.

Please continue to be safe.
