NHC – Tropical Storm Sean, the nineteenth named storm of the season, has formed in the Atlantic Ocean.

As of the latest advisory issued by the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Sean is situated about 725 miles (1170 km) southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.

It currently boasts maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 km/h) and is moving west-northwest at 13 mph (20 km/h).

Sean’s strength is not expected to change significantly over the next 72 hours.

Fortunately, there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect, and no immediate hazards are anticipated for land.

A tropical wave just offshore of west Africa is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

Some gradual development of this system is possible over the next several days while the wave moves westward across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.

* Formation chance through 48 hours…low…10 percent.

* Formation chance through 7 days…low…20 percent.
