NHC – Tropical Storm Gert’s Advisory Number 9 from NWS National Hurricane Center Miami indicates the storm’s precarious status.
At 1100 AM AST, Gert’s center was located at 16.9N 57.0W, about 410 miles ESE of the Northern Leeward Islands.
With maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and moving west at 8 mph, Gert’s weakening trend is expected to persist, possibly leading to remnant low status or dissipation.
Although no coastal warnings are in effect, the storm’s remnants are projected to shift northwestward.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend up to 70 miles from the center.
