SOURCE: NOAA – Tropical Storm Cindy has undergone slight strengthening as it continues its west-northwestward path, according to the latest report at 5:00 AM AST (0900 UTC).
At this time, Cindy’s center is situated at approximately 14.6 degrees North latitude and 51.2 degrees West longitude.
The storm is located around 675 miles (1,090 kilometers) east of the Lesser Antilles.
With maximum sustained winds of 60 mph (95 km/h) and a present movement of 15 mph (24 km/h) towards the west-northwest, Cindy shows signs of picking up intensity.
However, gradual weakening is expected as the week progresses.
The minimum central pressure is estimated to be 1001 millibars (29.56 inches).
No coastal watches or warnings are currently in effect due to Cindy’s position.
The storm is anticipated to remain well east and northeast of the northern Leeward Islands in the coming days.
Tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center of Cindy, posing potential hazards within this radius.
Meteorologists predict that Cindy will maintain its west-northwestward trajectory for the next few days, gradually transitioning towards a northwestward motion.
As a result, the system is anticipated to remain far from the northern Leeward Islands throughout the early part of next week.
