The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus (UWIFIC) is set for a major expansion, with KS&P Limited, a Trinidad-based engineering consultancy, leading the design and supervision phase. The project, supported by an $80 million loan from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will include the construction of new dormitories and other key facilities.
Education Minister Daryll Matthew, who announced the contract award on Wednesday, emphasized the transformative potential of the expansion, describing it as pivotal in establishing UWIFIC as a leading academic hub in the Caribbean.
Darren Sirju, lead consultant for KS&P Limited, expressed the company’s excitement about contributing to the campus’s development, promising a collaborative and high-value project for Antigua and its people.
Colin John Jenkins, Project Coordinator for the UWI Project Implementation Unit, acknowledged that while the expansion may take time, it will significantly impact Antigua and Barbuda’s educational landscape, fostering growth for both students and faculty.

congratulations to the visionary HON. GASTON BROWNE AND TAM LABOUR for our UWI Five Islands Campus and now its expansion!
hope is not a TRICKYdadian firm
So where are those critiques that had so much to say when a Chinese firm got the contract for the Boobey Alley housing project, which I had to correct them that it was not a loan. And now that this Trinidadian firm gets awarded the contract to expand our University from a loan that we have to pay back, they are silent. Come on Audley Phillip and others, say something.
