Police said that 78-year-old Dr Sinanan Lutchman, was at his practice when the two men, wearing bandannas entered the office and asked for him.
The doctor was shot once to the head and later died while being treated at the Sangre Grande District Hospital
The bandits are reported to have tied up the receptionist, and demanded money, before leaving.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby buildings which they hope can help identify the killers.
