Tribute to James Tanny Rose Founding Member Halcyon Steel Orchestra
The general membership of Halcyon Steel Orchestra would like to express its sincere condolences to the family friends and associates of James Tanny Rose
,one of the principal founders of Halcyon Steel Orchestra. Tony’s Role in the formation and contribution to the success Halcyon is well documented.
Author of the book The Shout Everton B Man Jones penned the following lines of Tanny’s
Role in Establishing Halcyon back in 1971.
THE SHOUT
“We had the politician as a facilitator, and as a minister in a sitting administration, he had standing with businesses and the public. And then there was Tanny. Tanny’s pure, concentrated devotion and firm allegiance to his community made him a constant public servant. He was ever-present, suggesting, advising, and willing to perform any task whenever there was “a problem.” He knew the band members, members, who we “belong to,” and we were alike. Tanny comminicated well with the fledgling group, understood our questions, and provided answers the politician could not. He was trusted, a perfect go-between who explained the actions of the politician and made his words make sense.”
Tanny, thanks for your contribution to Halcyon Steel and its success over the past 52 years. Thanks for the memories. May your soul continue to Rest In Eternal Peace
