(CABINET NOTES)

The St. John’s Development Corporation (SJDC) will commence and intensify the training of those taxi-drivers, bus operators, vendors and others with an interest in the opening of the St. John’s Port where cruise ships now discharge passengers.

Although a precise date has not yet been fixed for the first cruise liner to return to Antigua, the preparations for a successful cruise sector in the post-Covid period are being pursued.

Dates of training and certification will be announced by the Ministry of Tourism working in conjunction with the SJDC.

Meanwhile, work continues on construction of the Fifthe Pier, the widening and deepening of the channel and turning basin in order to accommodate the OASIS Class ships, the biggest cruise ships in the world that will enter Antigua’s harbour later this year.
