34 Enumerators, on Tuesday began a 3-day training exercise held at the Ministry of Tourism and Investment ahead of the 2019 Tourism Resident Perception Survey.

The Ministry of Tourism and Investment in conjunction with the Statistics Division will be conducting the Tourism Resident and Perception Survey which seeks to collect data from residents on their perception of; and satisfaction with tourism in Antigua and Barbuda from August 30, 2019 to September 21, 2019.

Senior Tourism Officer responsible for Sustainable Tourism Development within the Ministry of Tourism and Investment, and Project Manager for the Tourism Resident Perception Survey, Mrs. Vashti Ramsey-Casimir says the data collected will be used to inform and enhance tourism development and the project is a part of a holistic approach that the ministry is undertaking as it moves towards a more sustainable approach for tourism development, ensuring its viability.

“A lot of residents have suggestions, opinions and valuable input on how the tourism industry could be developed as their lives are affected by Tourism daily, whether they work directly in the Industry or live near Tourist hubs. We would like to hear from them to help us shape better policies and action programmes. We also want to encourage full cooperation of all residents during the survey process as we need honest input to reflect accurate results”, Ramsey-Casimir stated. 1500 households will be targeted, however only one person per household will be allowed to participate in the survey.

The team will be led by lead trainer; Tracelyn Joseph, head of the Social, Demographic and Environmental Unit at the Statistics Division, Rohan Anthony, Technical Coordinator and senior statistician with responsibility for census and surveys and Jabari Gordon-Toylor, IT Manager.

The team will be supported by Ms. Amiah Nicholas, Technical Officer in the Sustainable Tourism Unit and Executive Secretary for the project, Mrs. Avonelle Alfred and Lornel Mack, Research and Statistics Officers within the Ministry of Tourism and Investment.

  1. How many youth are in the 34?

Demographics matters a youth might be more incline to speak with their peers.

I recognize a few retirees in the pics.

  2. Good for Vashti. At least in her case, no one can say she was politically victimized. John Maginley’s right-hand during his campaign and in the Ministry of Tourism when he was Minister. Travelled all over under his leadership. She received a promotion under Labour. You go girl.
