The village of Old Road and the family of a young man from that area are mourning his tragic passing today, May 28.
Reports say that Meco Pelle, 27, died following a motorcycle crash on Monday night, May 27.
According to further reports, the young fisherman lost control of his motorcycle, which then collided with a parked vehicle, and Pelle was
propelled several feet from the wreckage.
The injured man was rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre by the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) in critical condition. However, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The motorcycle sustained extensive damage, reports say.
It is alleged that, earlier that day, Pelle had attended the funeral of a fellow villager, 23-year-old Ricaldo Joseph, who was the victim of a reported homicide.

Government needs to provide better roads.
Better Roads?
What are you talking about? You just conclude that tge accident happened because the road and not because people are driving reckless?
Overspending is the most common violation of traffic laws in Antigua..But the Antiguans keep blaming roads..Friars Hills is literally new road..and in that corner going up the hill there is a lot of accidents people alone losing control of their vehicles because there where spending..And sadly many of them still blaming the shape of the corner and the road..Damm..Just drive taking precautions and you will be fine.

A blessed good morning to each and everyone we really need help in Antigua and Barbuda we are having some many fatalities and life threatening accidents on our roads because of how reckless we drive and utilize these roads we are still asking for better roads Lord please help us supposed the roads were better we should think before we talk

Going up Friars Hill just after the pond, Public Works needs to remove the concrete on the edge of the road. This is a dangerous situation as sometimes vehicles coming down the hill tend to veer over the dividing line and cause oncoming traffic to hit the chunks of concrete and sustain damage to the wheels and tires. This happened to me one morning and it cost me a wheel ($800.00) and a tire ($500.00) Unfortunately for me, the Government does not accept responsibility for damages sustained, due to the poor road conditions as in other countries.

It’s really sad that such a young life was cut short, but it leaves a few questions. After all he was used to the road. Could it be that he was extremely tired or grief had him distracted. Unfortunately the story doesn’t say exactly where the accident took place.
