The Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI) is once again the recipient of good fortune as the Antigua & Barbuda Hotels & Tourism Association (ABHTA) gifted the Institute with two high-end convection ovens.

Mrs. Patrice Simon, Executive Director of the ABHTA commented that “we are pleased at the Association to re-affirm our commitment to the ABHTI. With the Institute being the center of Hospitality Training on our island, it is important that our partnership promotes avenues whereby the best possible education as it relates to hospitality and tourism, is offered to the students. Providing a quality education becomes even more effective if the facilities and equipment being used are top of the line.”

Mrs. Ruthlyn Matthias, Executive Director of the ABHTI emphasised that “the Board of
Directors, the management team and students are all grateful to the ABHTA, having received such a generous donation. The support from ABHTA is greatly appreciated especially since the students are able to benefit tremendously”.

Matthias added that “as the ABHTI is the only learning institution on island which focuses solely on the Hospitality sector, we will continue our work to ensure that our students are equipped to capture varying roles in the Industry. It is therefore imperative that with
such partnerships, we all work together to make the ABHTI the premier hospitality institute, not just in the OECS, but beyond.”

The ovens were officially handed-over to the ABHTI on Wednesday 11 March and will be housed in the main kitchen where students will be able to make the best of use of them under the tutelage of the chef instructor.

  1. wonderful news. That man from Freetown that now is Chairman of the ABHTA is definitely a person who knows how to get things done. Vernon Jeffers I think is his name. I wish to see the ABHTI become a world-class training facility. Big up and keep the vision alive.
