It was the first for the Hon. Minister during his tenure as Minister of Tourism and he used the opportunity not only to offer congratulatory words, but to admonish the cadets to be the best Ambassadors of Tourism that they can be; as that is the title that they now hold.
While Amar Singh from the Antigua State College copped the Tourism Cadet of the year title, Makkedah Lawrence from the Jennings Secondary School came in 1st runner-up in that same category as well as taking the coveted Latoya Baltimore Spirit Award.

The Tourism Cadet Corp Program has been recording very positive successes over the past few years.
“We make a very huge effort to edify the students not just on aspects of the Antiguan and Barbudan product offering in theoretical and practical forms, but on personal development and character building skills. This has augured well to make our cadets well rounded and can be the foremost contributor to the excellent reviews that we’ve received from the companies that have hosted the cadets for their internship sessions”, stated Mrs. Petley Knight, Manager of Tourism Education, Training and Awareness within the Ministry of Tourism.
