Tian Winter Tribute to Ricardo Drue

11

Words cannot express the overwhelming series of emotions I have been experiencing having learned of the sudden and unexpected passing of Ricardo, my brother in the entertainment fraternity. Everyone knows of our colourful past, but I am so grateful that God would have made it to be, that over the summer past, we got together and trashed out our differences and pledged to work together in a spirit of love and unity with the ultimate aim of taking Antigua’s music to the world.

Whilst we were fierce rivals, there was no doubt that Ricardo’s life intertwined with mine. He pushed me to be better at my craft. We also shared several commonalities, our love for family, a close-knit circle of friends, a passion for soca music and entertaining our fans, delivering on stage at the highest possible level, with the utmost energy and vibe.
FaceOFF was indeed one of the fondest memories I have as an entertainer, an evening where Ricardo and I showed profesionalism and grace while entertaining our audience to the fullest. Our collaboration on this event, enabled us to have a greater appreciation for each other away from the clutter of rival fans, fueling the flames of bitterness and competition. It set the foundation for more collaborations to come. Unfortunately God had other plans.

On behalf of myself, Iconic, Icons and the people that make up Team Tian Winter, I express heartfelt sympathies, to his mom and siblings, Patrice and all his children, Josh and the members of DWO.

  1. Tian life is short and is unexpected- there is no such thing as untimely passing or death. The reality of the situation here on planet earth that death strikes any moment. Death is no respecter of person. So my advice to you is return to the God of your childhood. I know that you went to a Christian Secondary School and is fully aware of life , death and then judgment.
So those of us that are alive have the chance to choose whom we may serve this day. You can use your gifts/talents to glorify God. You will never regret.

    • Well said Frankly Speaking.
God gives us talent to Glorify Him. I pray that Tian would use his talent to glorify God.

    • Some of you love to use tragedy to guilt trip people and talk about religion. It just shows how destructive religion is.

      • So true. So if Ricardo had never pass these guys here would have never been encouraged to sing for Christ. So tasteless. As a Christian myself, there’s a time and place for everything and this time and space is not the place to invite persons to live or sing for God!!! Just sympathize with his families, love ones and fans and move along.. Ricardo make you continue to SING IN Peace and fly your wings high🕊️🙏

  2. Well said Frankly Speaking.
God gives us talent to Glorify Him. I pray that Tian would use his talent to glorify God.

  3. Tian, your words go to show your regret at past rivalry with the late Ricardo Drue and your gratitude at having had the opportunity for you both to have overcome that rivalry and turn it into comeraderie. The concert you both put on was testament to that burgeoning collaboration you spoke of.
However, as you have seen, the best laid plans can go awry in a twinkling of an eye.
Death is a lesson to the living. To be mindful of where we currently stand. A chance to look at our choices before our time too is up.
Use this time wisely, use your talents to promote good over evil or bad. You have a huge platform, you still have time….
Grieve for your fallen brother, but also pick up the mantle and light the candle to a better and brighter way for all who choose to listen.
My heartfelt condolences to Ricardo’s personal and fraternal families, his fiancée Patrice, his fans.
His memory will live on in his music for many years to come, may his soul rest in peace.

  4. Soar higher! like an eagle on albatross wings: For under God all faiths are known, weather to sit beneath his throne of grace. Thy works of Earth are done; as in songs for humanity’s love of life in respite of enjoyment and, renewable hope for tomorrow’s gain to multiply beyond today. May your spirit be so buoyed by the presence you have shown among the meek and, elites of all classes of societal sphere and realms. As from humble beginnings you too did aspire, and have left an indelible mark on the psychic of the ears and hearts your songs touch; with rhymes enough to sway and prance with joy. Go on home young brother to remember: and sit in the perpetual circle of Our Ancestor’s Noble Congregation and, judgement of The Creator’s will.

  5. Well said Tian!
