Three men accused of firearms and ammunition offences will face trial in the High Court when the new criminal assizes begin in January 2026.
Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel ordered the committal this week for Judeah Francis of Potters, Jaquan Davis of Skerritts Pasture, and Devonne Burton of Paynters.
They are jointly accused of possessing two pistols — a black 9mm and a black Desert Eagle 41/44 magnum — along with 14 rounds of ammunition while travelling on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway on June 12, 2024. The trio also faces charges of attempting to use the weapons in the commission of an offence, while Francis faces an additional count of dangerous driving.
Police said the men were detained during a joint police and Defence Force operation, in which officers stopped a grey Toyota Vitz and allegedly found the weapons, ammunition, and masks inside.

During the committal proceedings, prosecutors submitted 14 exhibits and advised that seven witnesses are expected to testify when the case proceeds to trial.
All three have been released on bail granted by a High Court judge pending the outcome of the proceedings.
