Three generations of Michael golfers

The early days of the Cedar Valley Golf Club was much as it is today with a majority of local Antiguan sportsmen and of expats and local Brits, some Americans and visiting tourists.

The Club was raised by locals in a real mix of mostly men with a chain of women over the time keeping it real, with a healthy family golfing atmosphere, and raising three generations of Michael Golfers.

Granville Michael, recently deceased, and his brother Earl Michael, also deceased, both former cricketers, were two Cedar Valley foundation golfers, and Granville in particular pulled along his three young sons along producing two Cedar Valley Young Golf Champions, Courtney and Paul Michael, who stuck with it as a profession.

Zion Michael, the granddaughter, took up golf and was the first Antiguan to take golf as a CXC subject.

Antigua has produced many gems in general, and especially in sport, but for some reason we do not seem to be able to capitalize on it, and as we watch our elder sportsmen retire to Cedar Valley, we need to find a way of honouring them together.

Could Cedar Valley initiate Antigua’s Sportsmen & Women Hall of Fame?

  1. Tarl man. MAKEDA you appearing in the news too fast now.. Sir Ron Saunders wouldn’t appreciate being usurped..

  2. This is what I mean when I tell people the kind of person you are. You write about your family and in no way have you ever personalized it. Even when you refer to Zion you say, “the granddaughter”. You could not even say “My granddaughter” or “my sons” or my “ex-husband”

Is it not her choice whether she wants to disclose her family members or not? You certainly have personal issues with this lady big time. Did she spurn you or something? Or took you for a ride? I suggest you leave the lady alone as your bitterness is showing.

      • I guess when a person chooses the sect of Ratify above their own pickney it is understandable that they can detached themself from them. Infact the bond may not be there.

  3. This woman is a mystery. Who the heck is she and what does she stand for? I hope she isn’t some kind of an elitist.

Are these questions your business? The woman is a private citizen and not running for public office.
