The United Progressive Party’s (UPP) 12th Biennial Convention will officially begin with a grand ceremony on Saturday April 20, at 6 PM at the Multipurpose Centre. Under the theme “Together in Unity: Forward to Victory,” the Convention is designed to foster unity among party leaders, members and supporters, recognizing that a united front is essential for improving the quality of life for all Antiguans and Barbudans.

The Opening Ceremony will feature three innovative Caribbean change-makers: Antiguan, Commissioner Dion Irish, Chief of Operations for the City of Boston, MA, Ms. Mickela Panday, former M.P. from Trinidad and Tobago and Dr. Thomson Fontaine, Political Leader of the UWP in Dominica. There will also be remarks by Senator Damion Crawford from Jamaica, Hon. Trevor Walker, M.P. for Barbuda and UPP Political Leader Hon. Jamale Pringle.

Chair of the Convention Planning Committee, Harold Lovell, describes Convention Week as a  platform for education, inspiration and collaboration. He is pleased with the activities that have been staged thus far, that include: a Thanksgiving Service, Media Day, and Games Night.

“This will be a unifying event that will highlight our Party’s accomplishments and our vision for the future. It will be an opportunity to witness democracy in action as we chart the course to victory. Our members and supporters are energized to work together to create a better future that will uplift all Antiguans and Barbudans.” Lovell said.

The general public is invited to the Opening Ceremony. The event will also be live streamed via Progressive Radio, Observer Radio and UPP social media channels. It will feature entertainment by Kutting Eddge Band and is expected to attract hundreds of attendees and viewers.

Convention Week will end with the business session on Sunday April 21, with the election of a new Central Executive Committee, which will run the UPP’s affairs for the next two years.

    • When will ALP ever be above board with anything? They tried to have a Primary which is still in limbo after so many weeks because of dishonesty, and it’s the same way they conduct our business.

  1. Boy tell Thomson fontaine The only Change UWPWEE will ever get In Dominica is a Change of Leadership in The United workers Party. We want a Change in Dominica But not with TF and the orher Old Lazy Bunch like Lennox Linton, Eddison James,Hector John and others like them. The UWP needs a new Brand of opposition with fresh Heads who is about Country and not self. How could we Ever vote for a Violent and Power Hungry Bunch.I Voted an independent at the last Election because i could not see myself Voting UWP since i am not please the way my Labor party is moving. The poor getting poorer and the Rich getting richer.I will never vote for any political party again except The UPP because i can’t wait to see the end of Tyranny in Antigua under Grabson Buyum.Am Duel Citizen.
