There is a non-functioning x-ray and carousel at the Airport

Cabinet Notes:

The Cabinet invited the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) to address the issue of a non-functioning x-ray and carousel at the Airport which has to be used to examine luggage.

The ABAA sought estimates from three providers and settled on a supplier from the United States; its presence is also noted in four other Caribbean countries.

Major repair work has to be undertaken in order to remove a nonfunctioning system and to replace it with a new one.

Significant modifications are required in order to replace the old nonfunctioning system.

  1. That’s not new!!!! X-ray hasn’t been working for almost a year!!! You can take evrything/anything with you onn the plane!

  2. What about the escalator and one of the elevators that is not working for quite some time now. Travels have to walk up stairs with luggage in their hands. It looks bad to say that we were awarded airport of the year in the region 2021.

  4. Was the non functioning X-ray equipment, a part of the original design of the upgraded/new airport built by the Chinese?
    Do they get to insurance, warranty and guarantee on these equipments, since, they’re essential to the operations of the airport?

  5. They should either have full time maintained staff for these equipment / the overall facilities or outsource it to a maintenance/facilities company that’s respincible for keeping everything working.

  6. The airline should also share the responsibility to get your bags on the belt , you pay a fee. Please Airport Authority get this matter resolved. “Branded an International Airport “

      Is this another Wadadli Power Plant fiasco, in terms of, the quality of the equipment sourced, installed?

  8. made in china,what do you expect?… more of a liability than an asset just like the Wadadli Power Plant,450M to the drain yet we have to be paying back every cent of the loan whiles China spends $230B on defense this year.Look at the chinese death death trap with sri lanka,can Antigua service its loan with china with the imminent death of CIP?
