During a brief ceremony at Government House, Their Excellencies Sir Rodney and Lady Williams bestowed medals upon two young individuals who have exhibited exceptional character and dedication within their respective service organisations.
The Guiding Light Award is presented annually to an outstanding guide and scout (at any level) who demonstrates excellence in activity, innovation, and generosity towards their community and peers.
This year’s honourees, Mr. Marc Crawford and Ms. Maya-Ann Crawford, were recognised for their selfless service and significant contributions to their organisations’ missions.
The medals, manufactured in the United Kingdom by Worcestershire Medal Services—by appointment of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II—symbolise the highest standards of dedication and service.
The selection process, conducted confidentially by the leadership of both organisations, coincidentally resulted in the selection of the brother and sister duo.
During the ceremony, the awardees were encouraged to continue along their commendable path, striving to become exemplary citizens. Their parents were also congratulated for raising two outstanding young individuals who embody the principle of “service before self.”
Her Excellency Lady Williams, President of The Halo Foundation, announced that in 2026, the Guiding Light Award will be expanded to include all youth uniformed organisations under the umbrella of the Halo Foundation.

The 3rd Annual Guiding Light Awards are a fantastic initiative that highlights the hard work and dedication of individuals who help move the community forward. It’s important to honor those who selflessly give back. That said, it’s crucial that these awards are not limited to a select few. The spotlight should be cast on a broader spectrum of individuals, ensuring that the recognition is truly representative of the many unsung heroes who contribute to Antigua and Barbuda’s success.
Highlighting a wider range of contributors from diverse backgrounds could make the awards even more impactful and reflective of the community’s true talents.
