The campus which was established in 2019, received its certificate of full registration from the Antigua and Barbuda National Accreditation Board (ABNAB) in a ceremony on Friday December 10, 2021. The campus is registered for three (3) years with ABNAB.

Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the Five Islands Campus, Professor Densil A. Williams noted that the Five Islands Campus as the fifth campus of The UWI will maintain the hallmark of high quality education that the institution is known for.

“As a new institution in Antigua and Barbuda, we intend to build on the quality standards as a campus in the wider UWI system so we will accept our full registration today.”

Professor Williams stated that the Five Islands Campus has the competitive advantage of providing quality education to its student population and it intends to uphold and grow the UWI quality standards.

Professor Williams also thanked his campus team led by Director of Administration, Ms. Daniella Hickling for its diligence and hard work in completing the registration process with ABNAB.

Executive Director of the ABNAB, Dr. Danielle Ward congratulated The UWI Five Islands Campus on its registration and receiving the maximum number of years for registration for a tertiary institution in Antigua and Barbuda.

She explained that registration was more than just a paper process but an overall rigorous review of the institution by ABNAB.

She praised the Five Islands Campus for its thorough submission which met and exceeded the expectations of the Board.

“We were so pleased and so thrilled to offer this new institution our maximum registration of three years.” Dr. Ward also expressed confidence in The UWI Five Islands and its team in carrying out its mission in Antigua and Barbuda.

The UWI Five Islands Campus was officially opened in 2019 in Antigua and Barbuda. Registration, which is mandatory for all post-secondary institutions in Antigua and Barbuda, signifies that The UWI Five Islands Campus has met or exceeded the minimum standards to operate in Antigua and Barbuda.
