The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus will offer five new degree programmes as it expands its offerings to Antigua & Barbuda and the wider OECS.

The new programmes will include three new undergraduate degrees and two graduate programmes.

The three new undergraduate degrees will be the Bachelor in Education in Early Childhood Development and Family Studies, the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Five Islands Campus’ first Interdisciplinary degree, the Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Innovation Management and Computer Science.

The campus will also offer two new graduate programmes: the Masters of Science in Corporate Finance and The Masters of Arts in Teaching Special Children.

Principal of The UWI Five Islands Campus, Professor Densil A. Williams noted that  this new suite of programmes will provide learners with the relevant tools to embark on careers that are critical to national and regional development.

“As The UWI Five Islands Campus continues to revolutionize access to post-secondary education in the OECS sub-region, we are proud to offer a diversified and globally competitive portfolio of programmes that will help to address the developmental challenges which hinder long-term, sustainable economic growth and competitiveness in the region.” Prof. Williams also stated that the programmes were “of the highest quality of academic excellence as evidenced from the extensively thorough review by the various approval bodies within the UWI’s world class quality assurance system.”

Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Curtis Charles encouraged persons to use the opportunity to enrol in the new programmes.

“As we enter the 4th Industrial Revolution, The UWI Five Islands Campus’ digital learners are facing a global workforce where only 33% of the world’s demand for employees with technology skills is being met.”

He noted that these programmes would offer the knowledge and experience along with the technological skills needed to address the needs of the new global demands especially to move economies of the Caribbean forward.

The programmes will begin in August 2022 and prospective students can apply at the campus’ website www.fiveislands.uwi.edu .
