The top ‘green list’ destinations for your summer getaway, revealed! And Antigua makes the list.

The UK has been given a huge boost in their hopes for a summer getaway in 2021, as the government announces a long list of destinations that are soon to be added to the green list.

But, before you rush into booking your holiday, find out the best that the world has to offer with a brand new ranking table of vacation locations.

Loveholidays analysed the average temperature and rainfall, as well as how many beaches, restaurants and even the number of shopping malls of 12 long-haul holiday destinations.

The results were calculated to rank the destinations, and out of those locations, three are on the green list!

Antigua is the best location on the green list, according to the ranking. The Caribbean island offers coral reefs, and is at the top of the ranks for beaches. It’s home to 365 beaches, and the average temperatures that never dip below 25 degrees.

Relaxation is the focus here too, as despite the lack of shopping malls, spas, rainforests and swimming with marine life is still available for visitors.

Turks and Caicos have also been added to the green list, so by the 30th of June, us Brits could be jetting off to see the clear water and sandy beaches that make these islands a great getaway.

The temperatures reach 30 degrees in the summer months, which puts Turks and Caicos at the top of the table in comparison with the other locations. It’s 16 beaches make up for its lack of locations, however there are 60 restaurants to relax in.

Other activities on offer include hiking, golfing and diving! But, if you do choose Turks and Caicos for your 2021 summer holiday, prepare for rain, as these islands can receive up to 44 days of rainfall a year.

Bermuda came third, as it’s home to 34 sandy shores, and the island’s temperature also tops the table, reaching up to 28 degrees.

However, the island receives plenty of rainfall, as 200 days out of the year there are rainy skies.

When it’s not raining though, if you choose to visit Bermuda you can explore two shopping centres, and activities such as fishing, golf and sailing. There’s even 175 restaurants to choose from, to indulge in local delicacies and food.

These locations aren’t the only ones worth paying a visit on your 2021 summer holiday. Outside of the current green list (with hopes for travel restrictions easing in the future), Dubai actually topped the overall table.

You can find the full list here, and even play a top trumps game, to find out the ultimate long-haul destination options, to make your summer one to remember.

Methodology

Loveholidays assessed popular long haul destinations for holidaymakers.

They then analysed how many beaches, restaurants, shopping centres and activities are available at each location, as well as the average temperature and amount of rainfall each year.

To clearly demonstrate which location had the best overall ranking, points were allocated (from 5 points, the lowest, to 60 points, the highest).

The more restaurants, activities and malls, the more points each location earned; as well as higher the temperature and the least amount of rainfall. Adding up these points across all the aspects for each location, the locations who had the best of these aspects had more points, therefore placing them higher in the rankings.

Using these points, a leaderboard was created with the locations that had the most points across the board being at the top.
