The Ministry of Tourism and Investment is calling for secondary school students between the ages of 14- and 17-years old to register for the 2019 National Tourism Youth Congress.

One individual will be selected as the Junior Minister of Tourism and will go on to represent Antigua & Barbuda at the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) 2019 Tourism Youth Congress.

The CTO’s Youth Congress is a competitive regional activity where students from CTO member countries are given the opportunity to compete against their peers at the highest level. The Caribbean Tourism Youth Congress is an integral part of CTO’s annual tourism conference and aims to stimulate greater awareness and excitement about tourism among young people in our Caribbean communities, by allowing them to research various facets of the tourism sector and share their ideas and vision with respect to the future direction of Caribbean tourism.

The Youth Congress is structured to mirror the CTO Board of Director’s meeting and articipants are required to come prepared to share their knowledge and views with fellow Junior Ministers of Tourism and Commissioners of Tourism from across the region on Smart Travel Experiences within the Caribbean Region, Equipping Our Youth to Thrive in a Changing Tourism Environment and Making Excellence a Habit in Caribbean Tourism; Additionally, the 2019 Tourism Youth Congress participants will be asked to address a mystery question.

In light of this, the Ministry of Tourism and Investment extends an invitation to all public and private secondary schools to register one participant in the 2019 National Tourism Youth Congress.

If you have any queries about the competition, please contact Ms. Tracey Browne, Acting Manager, Tourism Education, Training and Awareness Unit at the above address or via phone at 468-4040 or via email at  [email protected].  The deadline for registration is April 30, 2019.
