The price of bread goes up in Antigua

A price increase has taken effect at the country’s most popular bakery.

Brownies, the country’s largest bread and bun supplier, announced the increase which took effect on July 1, at its various outlets across the island.

Bread goes up by 50 cents from $3.50 to $4.00. The price of the famous bun also went up by 50 cents from $4.00 to 4.50.

Various pastries have gone up by 25 cents.

Brownies bun and cheese have become a tradition in Antigua.

The company did not state a reason for the increase but someone close to the operations told Antigua News Room that the increase is keeping with rising costs and inflation.

The increase is not likely to affect sales.

Brownies pledged to continue its high standard of excellent service at no extra cost.
