  1. In sports it should be Alzaria Joseph (he’s a rising star in the cricketing world and a captain in the making), in journalism it’s between Nikki Phoenix and George Wehner; for the environment my choice would be for the whole team that cleaned up the island of Redonda.

In music I would select the late Ricardo Drue or the longevity if Claudette ‘CP’ Peters. Also in political arena, I would opt for the diligence of Hilson Baptist – a worthy mention -, despite his recent illness – an Antiguan who made sure that medicine was available here at home to date!

But my overall vote would be, without a shadow of a doubt would go to Kelvin Shugy Simon, who not only made Prime Minister Gaston Browne look ridiculous twice regarding him trying to halt Shugy’s progress in St Mary’s South, and trying to stop his resignation; King Shugy went on to win his constituency again.

If there’s anyone more deserving, I for one would like to know is who?

  2. So many deserving people missing from this list and some on here who do nothing at all. Just give me a break. Do it over.

  3. So many worthy people missing from this list and some on here who do nothing at all. Just give me a break. Do it over.

  4. Where is the list of their names and the contributions that they have made so that we could further support them?

  5. It would have made sense to list the people and their field of endevour rather than that lazy, generic, AI sounding commentary.

  6. I salute His Hon. PM in waiting for his steadfastness and unyielding stamina in opposing Corruption that has blighted the ALP for decades. Shuggy is a paradigm of transparency and has the attributes to make Antigua the “Singapore ” of the Caribbean.

I am from St George consistency , I have been PLM/UPP supporter for over 45years. Regrettable, I am not impressed with St George’ s political rep, whilst I couldn’t, wouldn’t vote ALP even whilst being intoxicated , I would be inclined to abstained.

I have written a personal memoirs, which received International status, catalogued by the British Library, five star reviews obtained from various media outlets in the UK. The Mayor of Islington endorsed the book as a good read, the local local MP Jeremy Corbyn provided a hand written letter that was read out at the launch of the book 20/09/2023 in the presence of Her Excellency Karen May Hill OBE and the Mayor, Gary Heather for London Borough of Islington.

The elected member for St George offered no comments. Notwithstanding, the book is being sold on Foyles and Amazon and various other platforms.

Throughout the book, Antigua tourism is promoted.

    • One question @ Antigua4ever, do you reside in Antigua or the UK?

I’m curious to know if you are a passport holding Antiguan that votes in our General Elections and then returns back to the UK to live.

Because we hear too many of these type of cases that continually interfere with our election and by-election process.

Please accept my sincere apologies if I’m wrong in your particular situation …

  7. Wasnt it in 2023, Tian get he $$$ after callin the govt out and he get a gun in he mouth? Thats plenty influence. Leave ppl wife alone!!!! There i said it!

  8. Mongoose J Truth etc on here. That’s okay because the list is about influential Antiguans. We have many young people who are influenced by the smallest things. What is disturbing is the fact that no body builders on here and they do so well event after event competing against the world best. Let’s not do a list because you deem them popular because I have no clue what Humroy does for us.

  9. @Brixtonian, I am a born Antiguan, my ancestors came from Old Winthorpe Village which is now home for VC Bird Int.Airport. my birth paper could be found at the birth register’s office.

In addition I am a tax payers and yes I am fully up to date with the payment of my property tax.

Like you @Brixtonian I can live and vote in Antigua as a born and raised citizen of Antigua and Barbuda. Just for added information I was one of those young people who sung our National Anthem for the first time in April 1967, yes I was there when the British flag was lowered from all government buildings and the Antiguan flag was raised marking the end of colonalisation.

I can aver,I am not an Antiguan by default, my ancestral blood flows through the soil of Antigua hence anywhere I go I can attest to be a born proud Antiguan. And yes, I can legally vote in my homeland.
I trust i have clarify the position @Brixtonian.
