The Department of Culture – DOC is pleased to announce the launching of its Arts and Culture Magazine today, Tuesday 16th February 2021.
“Fu Arwe” is a quarterly publication geared towards showcasing and strengthening our Arts and Culture happenings with in-depth stories and features.
This magazine primarily highlights our local Music, Fashion, Food, Theatre, Dance, Arts/Craft and other members of the Creative Industry. This initiative will further help to bridge our the traditional gap between the Department of Culture and the society at large and will enable continued dialogue within the creative fraternity, Antigua and Barbuda and the World.
The Director, Mr. Khan Cordice,is extremely excited about this new publication for several reasons. The first is “the high standard of work placed into the creation and development of this publication, has allowed my team further exposure while enhancing synergies with our Arts and Cultural practitioners”.
Cordice went on to state that “the COVID-19 pandemic has created paranoia within the working environment and the practitioners in the field.
Notwithstanding that, my team and I have devised a safe space for exposure and the continued work in the development of avenues for showcase and for support”.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, while wanting to maintain our readers’ safety, the D.O.C has decided to launch this publication via our social media platforms, which has become a commonplace for many during this period. Social Media facilitates online engagement amongst our residents, citizens, and the diaspora and provides a worldwide reach to our readers.
