The Barbuda Council Reaffirms Rejection of Land Adjudication Process, Vows Legal Challenge

*Press Release*

The Barbuda Council stands by its position which was communicated to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda several months ago concerning the adjudication of land in Barbuda.

The Barbuda Council will not support the said adjudication and encourages all Barbudans not to engage in the process which seeks to unilaterally abolish the Barbuda communal land system. The process is both biased and stacked against the best interest of Barbudans at home and in the diaspora.

The Government needs to understand that communities need to be consulted
on matters that affect their livelihood, culture and tradition.

The Barbuda Council is appalled at the devious and misleading press statement put out by the Government on state media pertaining to the involvement of the Barbuda Council.

There has been no discussion pertaining
to documents related to the adjudication process, nor has the Council consented for any of these documents to be available at its offices. No document concerning the adjudication is available from the Council.

The Barbuda Council will be mounting a legal challenge regarding the adjudication process.
Again, the Barbuda Council stands by its original position. “We do not support the adjudication of Barbuda’s land” and we encourage Barbudans not to comply or engage in any way in this process!

Barbuda’s lands are not for sale!!!

  1. It’s time to give up! The Barbuda Council is a useless entity that seeks to reverse all progress the ABLP administration is making. Barbuda could be the next Wakanda! I know I am a Gaston Browne supporter now, especially with how he has handled the criminal crisis back in Antigua.

  2. C’mon bro, you know the real Brixtonian will not write the bs you just wrote..so stop the bullshit..

    What is this, Russia?

  3. As an Antiguan, I fully support the right of the Barbudan people to their land! They have one of the last remaining communal tenure systems in the world, and it has protected the people and the island from exploitation for over a century. This is, and always has been, BLATANT disaster capitalism by Gaston and these billionaire colonizers. Just because we have chosen a path of (mostly) unsustainable development, it doesn’t mean that Barbuda should be forced to as well.

    • @WadadliObserver what “rights…to their land”???? ALL LANDS ARE VESTED IN THE CROWN!!!!!! not in Trevor Walker, BPM or the franks and mussington!!! Get that through your thick skull!!!! No wonder the people choose to believe that they actually own CROWN LAND!!!! stop perpetuating LIES and FALSEHOODS! If they think they have “rights” then take it to court!

  4. CRIME, TEACHER & NURSES LEAVING, COLONIAL SALARY STRUCTURE, CORRUPTION ETC.

As an Antiguan, I will take the government to court in order to get $1 land in Barbuda too. After all we are one sovereign State.

I deserve land for $1.00 too
