Source Real News Antigua- A teenager who was found with an illegal firearm is due to reappear in the
Juvenile Court (Juvenile Justice Board) on June 20.
Facing two possession-related charges – possession of a firearm, that is a
modified flare gun, and possession of one .380 bullet – the 17 year-old first
appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel last week.
At that time, no plea was taken, and he was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison.
Concerns have been expressed about the high incidence of youth violence and
criminal activities involving young people.
Calls are being made for parents to play a more active role in the lives of their
children, as the Government considers legislation to hold parents accountable
for the actions of their offspring.
