Not the actual gun

A 19-year-old man discovered with a gun and assorted bullets owes the state $25,000.

Though he claimed intent to surrender the illegal items, police found a 9mm pistol, .38 ammunition, and 9mm bullets during a vehicle search.

The youth admitted guilt, stating he was en route to the police station to turn in the weapon.

His companion was released due to lack of evidence.

The court fined the man $17,500 for firearm possession and $7,500 for bullets, totaling $25,000 in penalties.
