Team Antigua Arrives

The four men making up Team Antigua arrived moments ago at Nelson’s Dockyard after completing the 3000-mile journey across the Atlantic.

Eli Fuller, Scott Potter, John Watt and Nico Pshoyos completed the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in second place after 30 days at sea.

They were embraced by family members, friends, well-wishers and members of the public as they arrived about 9:55 a.m.

They battled sea sickness, 40ft waves, electrical problems, hallucinations and chronic fatigue, but never gave up hope.

A large crowd showed up to welcome the team

Team Antigua is one of 28 teams taking part in the 2017 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge: “The World’s Toughest Row” – a 3000-mile ocean rowing race from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua.

Team Antigua’s goal is to create a properly managed marine protected area outside of Nelson’s Dockyard to benefit Antigua both environmentally and economically. The area will flourish with life and attract tourists and tour companies alike. They will work with National Parks Antigua, Fisheries, Coast Guard and the Environmental Awareness Group in this task with the funds raised. They also hope to use a portion of the donations to help in Barbuda where possible following Hurricane Irma.

Friends Dicky Taylor, George Biggar, Peter Robinson and Stuart Watts – also known as The Four Oarsmen set a new record finishing first arriving just after 2am on Saturday morning.
