The taxi company operating at the V. C. Bird International Airport reportedly withdrew its service today.

According to reports, the taxi operators attached to United Taxi Company are protesting over increasing competition from “illegal operators”.

The members of the United Taxi Company had already been struggling financially due to the unprecedented plunge in airline traffic caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

More to come.

  1. The taxi men and women need to upgrade their vehicles. Antigua is advertised by the travel groups as a luxury destination, so how could they then expect these tourists to get picked up in the same types of buses used at the East and West Bus Stations…. the taxis want the Government to force the tourists that expecting a luxury vacation to ride a Nissan Urvan or a Toyota Hiace ? That’s madness

  2. So now that they have withdrawn their services, other covid19 related out-of-work taxi drivers could get a break!! Good!!

  3. I was not even aware we had illegal taxi drivers here.

But if this is the case, it’s more than time to nip it
