Tattoo Artist ‘Mongoose’ Jailed for Firearm Offences

SOURCE: ABS- Oszie Kelvin Russell, better known as ‘Mongoose’ will spend the next three and a half years at His Majesty’s Prison, after being sentenced this morning for Illegal Possession of firearm, ammunition and a silencer.

He has been sentenced to 3 years and 6 months and 5 days for possession of a Glock-80 pistol, one year for 10 rounds of ammunition and one year for a suppressor or silencer. The sentences are to run concurrently.

The sentence was handed down in the District B Magistrate’s Court this morning by Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel.
The conviction follows a police raid at Russell’s Lightfoot home around 6:55 Tuesday morning.

Investigators say, during the operation, they shouted “Police!”, and Russell hurled the pistol out of his bedroom window.

The weapon and ammunition were later recovered, along with THE firearm suppressor that was found on a dressing table.

The 40-year-old tattoo artist reportedly told police he was “working on” getting a firearm licence.

  1. Was going to be difficult to escape prison sentence. Hope this would serve as an incentive and a lesson for other illegal gun holders to hand in their weapons before the amnesty is over.

    • Did you give the Dominican beauty queen any “incentive”?
      Did you learn your lesson???
Young girls have no use for old geezers!! Take them to the cleaners than take off
      Rinse. Repeat.

  2. Alot of people were of the belief because of his popularity and pull strings he may have in his corner would of gotten him a slap on the wrist…If he had only gotten away or had to pay a fine then Ed Archibald would have to appeal his conviction….Gun Amnesty is still on so Ed and Mongoose are used as examples…Take your illegal firearms to the Police Headquarters and free yourself from the potential of spending time at Hotel 1735

  3. I wonder if the police are running ballistic test on these illigal firearms and ammunition that they are coming across, and cross referencing them to the unsolved murders in the island and sharing the information with neighboring islands. It will only make sense, however, I might be using my coconut too much here.

  4. As confused as your Thief King. UPP doesn’t know how to sanitize and it’s obvious that they don’t know how to thief either, or the lands at Friars Hill would not have been available for the taking. They certainly wouldn’t know how to thief such a large sum like TEN MILLION.

  5. I find the sentence very light . Not even a licensed firearm holder is allowed to have a silencer. Having a silencer indicates that he had intentions of committing a crime. The police need to be investigating where these guns are coming from and now silencers? This will take crime to a new level in Antigua.

  6. The sentence was too light .. do you understand what a silencer on a gun is capable of doing with a air compressor attached to it plus 10 rounds.. this is a joke sentence a gift 🎁 … where are the missing people btw .. remember most serial killers were the ones you least expected … but then again I wonder who’s bring the guns into antigua … hmmm yes those guys … and they never expected the guns would end up killing 2 of the own … hmm you really live in the bushes mangoose? Now tell who else live in there with you … hope you get the see Carl and explain to him why you were out there scandalizing his name .. however I do believe it was a set up maybe , just maybe, your kite was flying too high for them …

  7. @ “Papa Bird a cuss r u” I don’t think the Police will give out that kind of information….The Police jus want u to bring the gun at your own risk….If they come for u after u took ur gun in just know ya SALL!

  8. “A suppressed magazine”.

What is this man, a contract killer?

Why would any normal person need a silencer?

    Hope these investigators run ballistics.

  9. Try and retain the attorney who represented the pilot convicted for drug trafficking some years ago and sentenced to 30 yrs in jail. He was silently released after a couple years. He might be able to help you.

  11. Many people believed that because of his popularity and possible connections, he might have just received a slap on the wrist. If he had walked away with just a fine, it would’ve opened the door for Ed Archibald to appeal his own conviction. The ongoing Gun Amnesty clearly sends a message. Cases like Ed’s and Mongoose’s are being used as examples. If you have an illegal firearm, take it to the Police Headquarters and avoid the risk of ending up at Hotel 1735.

  12. Thats unfortunate. 2013 or so i was in the military while working with the police we found a well known criminal with a weapon and rounds and the same weekend me inna wendy’s there is the said person a party next me.

  13. How can people still be so careless with their precious lives in these times, my sympathies king, the best of us make mistakes, and every mistake comes with consequences. really hope this serves as a important lesson to other youngsters.

  14. So what will happen for the next three years? No whatsapp sell outs?- no fun without Mongoose. Maybe he can get phone in jail. After all they living their best life at 1937.

  15. Was going to be difficult to escape prison sentence. Hope this would serve as an incentive and a lesson for other illegal gun holders to hand in their weapons before the amnesty is over

  16. You might as well shut up. Mongoose is not that type of man. You don’t know why he had the firearm. Nobody can trust the police so we all need to have a firearm. Just ride off mongoose back. There’s people with firearm who aren’t not even being charged

  17. This is a case of rat i sure. All them police that got skinout on the platform. don’t worry mongoose as Antigua’s favorite, you will be taken care of in jail.

  18. And remember his platform includes a ton a police officers plus he’s a member of Sharp Shooters shooting club which also comprises of police officers. The way I see it, somebody envious of him and wants him out of the picture

  19. Read between the lines can’t put nothing pass antigua. How come no links came out about he’s being investigated or anything but only remanded due to what they found and also for someone with big platform how can you make such a mistake ? Maybe I’m thinking to deep but aye it’s crazy

  20. How unfair isn’t the guy from road house was found with Ammunition also? Did he just got 1 year and months? What the difference here, and where is the justice?

  21. @ RAWLSTON POMPEY….. what are you smoking sir … he got caught with a gun with 10 rounds a silencer and a air compressor to give it the ability to go further…it really doesn’t make any sense what you’re saying sir .. what is the charge for having a silencer and a air compressor ? Are you also living in the bushes like a mangoose, or are you using the silencer to silence people by shooting them from the bushes.. question to you … what if just want if that gun hurt one of your family members would you still have empathy?…
