Swetes Man Charged, Remanded For Chopping Incident

Jared Robinson, 31 of Swetes Village was been remanded to prison on Wednesday when he made his first appearance in the All Saints Magistrates Court.

Police charged the man with Malicious Damage, being Armed with an Offensive Weapon and three counts of Wounding with Intent to Murder.

The defendant allegedly chopped three members of his household with a cutlass on Saturday.

This included an 8-year-old girl, who was kept in hospital following surgery for head injuries.

The child’s mother Tanesha Gregory and a 14-year-old girl were also treated for injuries from the alleged attack and were subsequently released from hospital.

The magistrate had no jurisdiction to grant Robinson bail due to the seriousness of the charges.

He has the option of applying for bail in the High Court ahead of committal proceedings for the matter, which was set for July 1.
