SOURCE: ANTIGUA OBSERVER- Police have confirmed they have a suspect in custody following a chemical attack that left a 31-year-old Potters resident fighting for his life.
Josh Charles remains in critical condition at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center after being sprayed with an unidentified hazardous substance in the early hours of Sunday, April 20. The attack occurred around 12:30am while Charles was walking along Berlin main road in Potters Extension.
“The burn victim was in intensive care, at least up to yesterday, and I believe he still is in the Intensive Care Unit,” an officer told Observer media.
The victim sustained severe injuries to his face, eyes, chest, back, arms, and legs from what appeared to be a targeted attack.
While the spokesperson confirmed that there was someone in custody assisting with the investigation, the authorities have not yet identified the substance used in the attack.
Law enforcement officials are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
“We urge anyone who may have seen something suspicious around Berlin main road in Potters Extension during the early hours of Sunday morning to contact us,” the police said.

Potters Man Suffers Acid Attack in Daylight Assault
A 31-year-old man from Potters is in critical condition following a brutal acid attack that occurred in broad daylight on Sunday, April 20.
According to relatives Josh Charles had just returned from a nearby supermarket with groceries to prepare a late breakfast when he was approached from behind and doused with a corrosive substance.
The incident happened shortly before midday along Burlin Main Road in Potters Extension.
Emergency services, including police and medical personnel, responded promptly to the scene following reports of the assault.
Charles was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he remains hospitalised with life-threatening injuries.
He sustained severe burns to his face, eyes, chest, back, arms, and legs.
Initial reports from the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda had incorrectly listed the time of the incident as 12:30 a.m., but family members have clarified that the attack occurred around noon, and they were notified shortly after 12:00 p.m.

I received the call around 12:09pm. I spoke with the police. I was told to drive to the hospital. Back checking the timeline of the incident, my son on his way home fell after he was attacked.
He lay in the gutter for a while. Then later crawled into the pasture whenre he lingered on the ground for a while until he could pull himself up. He stood swaying until someone call the police for assistance. If you want the truth, go check that out.
Whenever lawyers or police give information with errors, that’s when they are seeking loopholes to get a case thrown out, or to affect the outcome of a sentence.
People they cannot show his face yet until he is identified as the actual perpetrator. Not because he is a suspect means he did the crime
