Suriname-Antigua and Barbuda to stage Group A showdown

MIAMI. – Three matches continue the second matchday in League B of the 2023 Concacaf Road to Concacaf W Gold Cup on Sunday.

Antigua and Barbuda, El Salvador and Suriname are all on a quest to get their second three points of the tournament as they chase the first places in their groups. Guyana, Dominica and Martinique look to earn their first points of the season.

Guyana vs. Dominica

Guyana hosts Dominica at the Wildey Turf Stadium in Wildey, Barbados. Both teams will look to bounce back from home defeats and get their first points in Group A.

Brianne Desa helped Guyana fight back against Antigua and Barbuda. The comeback nearly came true for the Lady Jags, only to fall 2-1. Omar Khan’s team will look to build on the ending stretch of their opening match.

Goalkeeper Celia Gregoire posting 12 saves was among the positives for Dominica in the 4-0 loss to Suriname. China Tolloch and Romelcia Phillip accounted for three of the team’s seven shots and will look to increase their effectiveness in the team’s first away trip.

Suriname vs. Antigua and Barbuda 

Suriname welcomes Antigua and Barbuda at the Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadium in Paramaribo, Suriname. This matchup will feature the top groups in Group A with the potential winner taking sole proprietorship of first place.

The Surinamese contingent broke open for one of the best offensive outputs of the opening matchday. Stekkinger Shamaira, Andaya Lantveld, Katoucha Patra and Orthea Riley all opened their accounts in the 4-0 away win at Dominica.

Antigua and Barbuda were one of the lone sides to start with a home win and now want to add points on the road. Gabrielle De Suza scored both goals for the Benna Girls and will be one of the prime targets for the Suriname defense.

El Salvador vs. Martinique

El Salvador and Martinique square off at the Las Delicias Stadium in Santa Tecla, El Salvador. The Salvadoran contingent will look to reach six points in front of its home fans while visiting Martinique hopes to climb into the conversation for first place.

La Selecta took a 3-0 win at Nicaragua thanks to goals from Brenda Ceren, Danya Gutierrez and Samaria Gomez. Goalkeeper Idalia Serrano also stood out with three saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Martinique will hope to play spoiler in its quest for a first point of the campaign. Rene-Corail Mirella had six saves and will look to have another important outing for Les Matinino.
