Surge in Robberies and Burglaries on Island Keeps Police Busy

The island has been experiencing a surge in robberies, burglaries, and break-ins, which has been keeping the police busy.

The most recent victims were a man from Gambles and a woman from Fort Road who were robbed of their money and valuables.

According to reports, the male victim reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) that he was robbed at gunpoint by a masked assailant who took his backpack containing his wallet and government-issued identification.

The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. on Labour Day, May 1, while the victim was in The Point and walking home when he was accosted by the perpetrator.

The victim described the perpetrator as a slim-built man about 5 feet 10 inches tall, dressed in dark clothing and a dark cloth covering his face, armed with a black gun.

The offender took the victim’s possessions and fled in a northerly direction.

Despite a search of the surrounding area, the alleged robber was not found. However, investigations into the incident are ongoing.

On the same day, a 32-year-old resident of Fort Road also reported being robbed at gunpoint to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

According to reports, the victim was walking westward near Harpy’s Superette, using her iPhone 12 Pro Max to send a voice note, when an unidentified man approached her.

The perpetrator reportedly brandished a dark-colored handgun, demanding that she hand over all her possessions. After searching the victim, the perpetrator took her phone and an undisclosed sum of Eastern Caribbean currency.

The offender is described as a slim-built, fair-complexioned man, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a pink floral shirt, a black tam, and dark jeans, but no shoes.

The incident took place around 3:30 a.m. on May 1, and despite a search of the surrounding areas, the suspect has not been found.
