Plans are underway to retrofit containers for additional room, including the construction of a staff cafeteria at HMP.

Superintendent Colonel Trevor Pennyfeather expressed his intention to build a lunchroom on the prison grounds during a recent interview.

The goal is to provide a suitable space for staff members to enjoy meals, relax, and engage in meaningful conversations, fostering collaboration and camaraderie.

HMP, also known as ‘1735’ due to its founding year, has undergone changes in leadership with each superintendent facing unique challenges.

Pennyfeather, who assumed the role in February last year, has been focused on improving infrastructure, physical security, and officer integrity.
