Strike looms at ZDK Radio

Employees at ZDK Liberty Radio are planning to protest the management of the business which has served Antigua and Barbuda for more than four decades.

According to a source with close knowledge of ZDK’s operations, the radio station is now in the process of laying off staff and cutting salary.

However, those behind the cuts want to maintain their same pay another source said.

The individual also said the owners have resisted programming changes necessary to keep the radio station competitive.

In light of this, the majority of ZDK staff has been considering staying away from work on Monday morning.

Management wants to meet at 11 a.m on Monday in an effort to avert the protest action.

Staff also want improvements to the working environment given ZDK’s aging headquarters.

  1. I guess ZDK should make the claim just like Observer that it is because of the hostile ABLP government that they are in financial difficulties.
But we know better. It is because of the hard head and stubbornness of the management which is a one family show anyway. They do not even have a proper website like Point FM and OMG. And of course the advertisers are getting less and less interested in these media houses.

    • I agree- .. How sad..Self righteousness and arrogance has no place in reality. They can call upon a certain Preacher to pray for the station, hope he’s as passionate in his prayer as he is when judging and pointing fingers at the PM indirectly.. hope the prayer works..I am truly saddened by the way they have been functioning lately.. Anyway i do wish them the best and hope they will come to see the error of their ways before it’s really too late.
