St. Vincent Man Kills Friend After Being Caught Having Sex with His Girlfriend

CMC- A 49-year-old man, Delroy Quashie, was sentenced to five additional years in prison for killing his friend, Shon Browne, after Browne discovered him having sex with his girlfriend.

Initially charged with murder, Quashie pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

The High Court initially sentenced him to 10 years but reduced it to five years, considering his existing 28-year sentence for sex crimes.

The incident occurred on August 22, 2021, when Quashie visited Browne’s home. After Browne went to buy rum, Quashie had sex with Browne’s girlfriend, Ruby Francis.

Browne returned, found them, and attacked Francis and Quashie.

During the struggle, Quashie stabbed Browne, who later died from the injury. Justice Cottle noted Quashie’s criminal history and considered the severity and circumstances of the offense in his sentencing.

    He has a 28 year sex crimes sentence PRIOR to killing his friend. (Did he complete that sentence? Was he on parole?)

    The high court gave a mere 10 year sentence to a killer, and then reduced it to 5-years because they took into account his prior 28-yr sentence

    What am I not understanding?
    Whatever your prior sentence, it should have no bearing on your sentence for killing someone.

    My sadness is for the deceased family, 5 years must feel as if the judiciary did not value their son’s life.

  6. I don’t understand this ! What the first offense has to do with the second ? That’s why you would hear ‘ I’ll kill you a go to jail ‘ There’s no proper justice for victims. Have mercy 🥺
