St. Vincent and the Grenadines PM Urges Immediate End to Ukraine War
The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, has issued a powerful appeal to global leaders, calling for an immediate, negotiated end to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
In a letter addressed to Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia, Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, Joseph Biden of the United States, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Dr. Gonsalves highlighted the catastrophic toll of the war on humanity and the risk of a nuclear Armageddon.
“The war in Ukraine has been raging since February 2022 and has recently entered a most dangerous phase of escalation which portends an unthinkable nuclear Armageddon,” the letter states. Dr. Gonsalves described the conflict as “senseless” and “completely unnecessary,” lamenting the disregard for human life and the global repercussions of continued fighting.
Drawing on his observations and historical reflections, the Prime Minister stressed that the war would not conclude with a decisive military victory for either side. Instead, he proposed that the warring parties must reach a “mutually agreed condition of dissatisfaction,” which, over time, could evolve into a more sustainable peace.
Quoting poets Daniel Williams of St. Vincent and W.B. Yeats of Ireland, Dr. Gonsalves underscored the urgency of halting the violence, urging the leaders to heed lessons from history and literature about the fragility of civilization in times of chaos.
Dr. Gonsalves emphasized the existential responsibility of the addressed leaders to prevent further bloodshed. “We must not sleepwalk into a nuclear Armageddon; and we cannot continue the current carnage. Let history absolve us,” he concluded.
This heartfelt plea comes as the global community grapples with the far-reaching effects of the war, including economic instability, humanitarian crises, and geopolitical tensions. The letter has been shared with the heads of state and governments of all United Nations member states, reinforcing the call for collective action towards peace.

BOWEN PSEUDONYM: …SENSE OF HUMOR: …DEFECTION OVER DISSATISFACTION?
Do like your ‘…Sense of Humor.’
But, organizationally, to whom might this ‘…Leader,’ address the ‘…LETTER?’
By the way ‘…DEFECTION OVER DISSATISFACTION,’ is really neither ‘…WAGING, nor ‘…FIGHTING WAR.’

Is Gonsalves trying to get some mileage ahead of Donald Trump? Trump already stated that he will end the war before he even get into office. Who really started this war or cause this war to have started?
Why is ending this war more important than ending the war in Palestine? I think the suffering is greater in Palestine than any place on earth. So I find it disheartening for him to ask to end this war without any mention of the Israeli/Palestinian war. Putin has already told Israel that Iran if off limits, so in the same way a nuclear war could result from that war as well.
@ JBF President Putin (Russia) nor Prime Minister Netanyahu (israel) gives a damn about what any leader of a 3rd world tiny spec on this globe has to say…..Never forget that…..
@ this world ….I know that. Russia is a permanent member of the UN and has veto power, they don’t even care about a big country much more a spec. They also have nuclear power and hence not even the big countries wants to go into serious battle them.
The kind of battle they will fight would be chest game moves. So Biden wanted to get back at Russia for alleged election interference, hence they encourage Ukraine to join NATO. Putin left with the option to either allow it or go to war. Putin move was to go to war and stretch it out and the US tried to squeeze Russia with sanctions and trade blockage. At the same time, it hampered the economy in the US more than Russia (which grew even more). Bottom line, Trump get back in power.
