According to reports, the owner said he heard a banging noise and went to an eastern window at the front of the shop to investigate.

He says he then saw an unknown man, fair in complexion, who was dressed in a grey buttoned-up shirt, and who assaulted him with the hard object.

The shop owner had to be transported to the hospital and treated for the injury to his head.

Reportedly the perpetrator had entered the shop by removing six louvre panes and breaking two others on an eastern window.

This offence reportedly occurred at about 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning, July 28.

Meanwhile, an incident of sacrilege – or theft from a church – and the larceny of building materials from a Government construction site are currently being investigated.

The pastor of the Ottos Wesleyan Holiness Church, located on All Saints Road, reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) that the house of worship had been broken into, and an undisclosed number of toiletries, disinfectants, clothes had been stolen from a storeroom.

The intruder reportedly had used a sharp object to cut the padlock off burglar bars on the kitchen door. Then a hard object was used to break off a cylindrical lock attached to the door.

In this instance, however, the Police were able to recover the items. A senior officer reportedly spotted a Cashew Hill man known as “One Love” in the vicinity of the church and with the stolen items in his possession. But the perpetrator managed to make good his escape.

The items have since been taken to CID pending further investigations.

This offence reportedly occurred between 10:15 p.m. on July 25 and 12:30 p.m. on July 26.

In another incident, Clarence Pilgrim, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, reported to the CID that 10 lengths of 4×4 lumber had been stolen from a government construction site located on Independence Drive.

This offence occurred sometime between July 26 and July 27.

It was about two weeks ago that someone stole a number of items from a container at Old Runway that belongs to the Ministry of Works.

In that incident, the bandits made off with 30 water pumps with pressure tanks, each valued at $1,200; two rolls of 2.5 electrical wire; and four heavy-duty drop cords.

Reportedly the person(s) gained access to the container by using the keys to unlock two padlocks. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATS APP GROUP FOR MORE UPDATES

  1. This is a heartfelt plea to the Prime Minister and his cabinet.

Please, please … please sir, address the nation on how you are going to deal with this ever growing crime rate.

WHY THE CONTINUED SILENCE ON CRIMES AND MISDEMEANOURS?

AND WHERE’S YOUR BLACK SHIRTS WITH THEIR SHIELDS AND RIOT GEAR?

Are you hiding because it makes you look like you’ve lost total control of these crime waves?

Or simply, that your hoping that the voting public will not notice your current “achilles heel” and put you back in office?

However, Prime Minister, your “achilles heel” is that you haven’t realised that the voting public are fed-up of your disappearing act on certain matters that are a priority, especially the security and safety of your fellow countrymen and women.

COME ON MAN, ADDRESS THE NATION!!!

  3. Dear Lord, what is wrong with these Grown men? Be a father (that these young girls are searching for) and tell them to RESPECT their bodies and to stay in their lanes. What they don’t have – do without. God always provides for our daily needs. Don’t take advantage of them because they are vulnerable. LORD PLEASE HELP US AND PLEASE HELP OUR CHILDREN.

  4. What government property on independent avenue. I thought PS Pilgrim owned the property at the top of Nevis street and Independent. His parents use to live there and operated a restaurant or bar. In government there is do much corruption. A PS was terminated for corruption during UPP time. He is now a PS again and a known ABLP supporter and as usual the more corrupt you are the bigger positions you get in government. Ambassador
