  1. Wonderful !!! Has the “stone” been moved to allow the world’s largest ship to visit?
Tiad and fed up wid it!

  2. First of all I welcome the entrance of these dynamic cruise ships to our shores and I’m also impressed of the great improvement of our tourism and to mention the great work of Hon. Max Fernandez who has improved tourism more that 150%. Great work Hon. Max Fernandez first and PM Gaston Browne great team.

  3. Be cautious of your surroundings and don’t dress to impress or we’ll be reading about you for different reasons

  4. And not to be so impressed. But after these majestic Trojans Vessels depart. St. John’s after photo op of a glimpse of sand and spiking sun: we are still left with a fetid rotten town for us; the the (quasi) indigenous inhabitants to dwell in with. wishful hope that the powers. that be would enhance our. presence with a Capital City for. us to be proud of and not the remnants of England’s colonial relic of a town still not far removed from 1834. Thus the itinerary of the cruise liners is not of our making, or to the benefit of the masses; with the trickle down economic effect gained from our continued servitude catering to offshore entities, with their visit to an exotic port of entry. So much for foreign investment, eh !?

  5. The economy is doing so bad that even five cruise ships won’t do. We need hundreds of cruise ships. We need to build more Ports. And we need the cruise ships to come the whole year around. Hurricane Season or not.
I mean no matter what we do or who says that the economy is the fastest growing, they will still say the sky is falling down. Chicken Littles. Just ignore them. Leave them to drown in their misery.

  6. Prosperity for whom?
Word from taxi drivers, shop keepers, pop ups, vendors is income is lower than last year, majority of ships bring ‘window shoppers’ who eat & drink on board; people who want a short ride to a beach etc.
Please people, do not be confused.
The ‘prosperity’ is the governments through head tax, not the local ‘characters in the charade sold to the cruise companies ‘ who are trying to make a reasonable living.

What % of total cruise head tax per month in high season ( or $ figure) goes into treasury for benefit of people living here after the costs of hosting the cruise ships have been deducted?
(Potable water, garbage, pilot boat, port beautification, janitorial and maintenance services, overseas cruise sales meetings/conventionsetc. etc.)

As a country we need the head tax and should see the uplifts from that revenue to local people’s services from Government.
