The St. John’s Cooperative Credit Union has confirmed that an “electrical problem” forced the early closure of the business today.

Customers reported that there was a fire after they were evacuated from the building but the company says that’s not so.

The problem resulted in the closure of the credit union just before noon and for the remainder of the business day.

Officials say the problem has been resolved and the financial institution will open as normal tomorrow.

They’ve apologized for the inconvenience.
