National sprinter, Cejhae Greene, has hit the qualifying mark for this year’s Olympic Games slated for July 23 to August 8 in Tokyo, Japan.

In his first outdoor race of the season, Greene clocked 10.01 seconds in his round two, heat one contest at the Tropical Park Sprint Series held in Miami, Florida on Saturday to not only win the heat but meet the Olympic qualifying mark of 10.05 in the 100 meters.

The Antiguan finished ahead of Fred Kerley and Jeremy Bascom who both clocked 10.11 and 10.51 seconds respectively.

The results mean that Greene is the first Antiguan to qualify for the Olympic Games in the track and field category.

Last year, young laser sailor Jalese Gordon, received a wildcard or solidarity entry into the games.
